What kind of camera is good for skateboarding? I want a good cheap camera with good quality for filming.?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I just want to film clips of flatground. Not the cameras for following behind the skater and filming. But I want the camera able to have a fisheye also. So can you tell me everything I should get? This would help a lot!! thankyou

A DSLR that can do video, that way you have interchangeable lenses, do HD video, and high quality still photos if you want.

Here are 3 cameras to check out:

Nikon D5000 12MP DSLR Digital Camera w/18-55mm VR Lens – $685
Canon EOS Rebel T1i (500D) 15MP DSLR w/EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens – $769
Pentax K-x 12MP DSLR with 18-55mm Zoom lens – $549

The first link listed below is to a web page that lists the 3 DSLR cameras I am recommending. This list will let you compare features and specs, also it has links to reviews of the cameras, the reviews include sample images from the cameras. Also I included some links to some dealers.

Hope this helps.

How do you make those videos filming your computer screen?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I only know how to make webcam videos but I want to know how to make those ones filming your computer screen. How on earth do you do that? I have a Dell laptop if that makes any difference.

They’re called screen recorders, and here’s the one freebie I know of.

@jesusgotpower: You’re right, but if software isn’t well-recommended on the internet you may be downloading spyware too. Best to look anything up on Google before you try it.

Where are the exact filming locations for the movie Gran Torino?

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

I saw the movie "Gran Torino" last week, and since I live not too far from Detroit, I’d thought I’d like to take a tour of the filming locations sometime.

Anyone know where the scenes were filmed? I know of two – the street corner scene (Charlevoix St.) and there was a hardware store scene. Any others?

Can you get a copy of the Entertainment section (F) of the The Detroit Free Press from Sun. Dec. 21st, 2008? It listed all the filming locations for the movie. Maybe the local library or online? IF not:
1) Ballantyne Road near Lake Shore Dr., Grosse Pointe Shores–home of Walt’s son
2) St. Ambrose Catholic Church (Hampton, just off Jefferson, Grosse Point Park)–site of the wife’s funeral
3) Rhode Island Street, east of Woodward, Highland Park–"the old neighborhood" and house where Walt lives
4) Widgren’s Barber Shop (11 Mile between Main and Washington, Royal Oak)–the site of the antique barber shop
5) VFW Post 6756 (Sherwood between Mound and Van Dyke, Warren)–Walt and his buddies drink beer here
6) Pointe Hardware (Kercheval at Wayburn, Grosse Pointe Park)–Walt takes the teen here to buy tools
7) Artona Custom Tailoring (Mack near Rivard, Grosse Pointe)–Walt buys a tailored suit and it fitted by the real owner of the shop
8) Pilgrim Street, west of Woodward, Highland Park–climatic showdown
9) Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Points Farms and Grosse Pointe–the Gran Torino cruises down the road. Lake St. Clair and the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club are seen in the background.

P.S.–Something was also filmed in Grand Rapids, MI –according to IMDb. And I don’t know what the cross street was for the corner of Charlevoix and ?

Im going to have to make a home made romeo and juliet video trailer, got any filming tips?

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

For my English project, I am going to have to put to use the video recorder, or whatever it is called. I definitely have some computer experience, but what about some filming tips? Also, maybe some tips with the computer when editing.

Keep the lens cap on if your cast are really ugly.

Why does the Smithsonian not allow filming or photography of a holotype?

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I heard on MonsterQuest that the Smithsonian wouldn’t allow filming of a holotype – specifically it was a bear skull. Why wouldn’t they allow it?
I didn’t get this information off of the web, I got it off of the History Channel on TV. Granted, maybe not the best source, but that’s why I’m asking.

That’s what you get for relying on the internet for information. When I was there, they even made plaster casts of holotypes for me to take with me. Perhaps the difference is that I knew what I was doing and they knew that.
